Charge Well
There are many approaches to managing ejection charges for deployment ranging from rubber glove tips to machined cups. I prefer to use centrifuge tubes, where I cut a small hole in the bottom for the e-match wires and the clip-shut cap makes sure that no powder escapes.

Splicing a Recovery Harness
A very common practice for building recovery harnesses in high power rocketry involves various knots. Depending on the type of know used, these can be effective and useful. An interesting, and perhaps surprising issues with knotting these harnesses is that the knot itself introduces a weakness to the material used.
